Leads – The Life of any business

We can skirt around it as much as we would like, but failure to generate enough leads for your business will eventually result in the death of it. Customers are the life line to your business, and provide you with the profits you require to be operational and provide an income for you and your family. So what should you be focusing on if you are starting up a business or are relatively new?

Treat Leads Like Life or Death for Your Business

I find it interesting how people treat leads in their business rather flippantly. I don’t believe its because they don’t consider them important, but rather they really don’t realize that its the difference between mediocre and outstanding success.

Part of the reason may be acceptance. For some, they simply don’t know how or feel they don’t have the skills to generate more leads. So they consider the point null and void and they will have to deal with the leads they currently generate, and try to make it work.

Lets be really clear…if you want the success that 5% of the population gets, your mind and activities should be consumed by generating leads. This in of itself doesn’t create monetary success, but I can tell you that without it, you have a better chance of spontaneously combusting than achieving any higher level of success.

Needless to say, you need to treat your leads like the life blood of your business. Without that blood, you are choked out of the game.

Choose Your Marketing Strategy and Drill It

When generating leads, it always comes down to marketing – you, the company, and the products/service.

Once you learn to market yourself within your business (this is very important, especially in network marketing), the rest will come much easier. After all, people typically buy things from people they know, like, and/or trust. If you can’t establish one of those criteria, your marketing efforts will be as effective as an hot dog vendor at a raw vegan picnic.

So once you’ve marketed yourself, you need to figure out a marketing strategy for your product so that:

1. As many people as possible know about it.?2. Its proven to work (third party testimonials are very helpful here).?3. It provides value to your customers.?4. Its as easy to purchase as possible.

Lets assume like most companies you’ve done relatively well at the bottom 3, and look at the #1 cause of failed business (especially in network marketing) – leads.

Lead Generation Strategies

The specific strategies you can employ are largely determined by your type of business and it would take several articles to cover it all (however, if you want to discover how you can market a home based coffee business, you can get those strategies here).

Some things you want to consider in your marketing are location (physical, mobile, or online), ads and promotions, referrals, word of mouth, and networking.

What method you choose should give you the best opportunity to market yourself and your products to as many people as possible. If you’re a great networker, choose that. If you can draw up killer ads, do that. If you can use the internet in any way, look at that.

Just be sure to carefully select one (at most two) strategies and focus on them exclusively. This will allow you to understand the method completely, see how it works, and not chew up a bunch of time learning other methods. The quickest way to slow down or drown your business is to try be an expert in all strategies. This is not possible if you are a small business or “one man show” and you will end up doing more marketing than selling.

Remember, the purpose of proper marketing is to achieve the desired end result of selling your product or service. If you don’t accomplish this, your marketing efforts are in vain.

So before you get started, consider what your marketing strategy will be for you, and your products or service. Then figure out how you can nail it to create an endless amount of leads to ensure your business not only survives, but thrives.

Now go out there, and lead the way.
