Handmade Jewellery

As a single woman in my thirties I’ve always been something of a bohemian. I guess it all started as a student in Manchester when I would go to charity shops for my clothes, or a great shop called Affleck’s Palace where they sold handmade jewellery, unique clothes and all manner of interesting things. What I really like about wearing items such as handmade jewellery is you can be pretty sure that the girl opposite you in the party is not going to be wearing the same necklace or bracelet. Of course not all handmade jewellery is good of and you have to be as discerning as you would with any other product.

About five years ago I even tried to make my own handmade jewellery. I thought it can’t be that difficult so I signed up to an evening course at the local college. All I will say about that experience is that it was quite grounding. All of a sudden I felt like I was at art class again as an eleven year old, and I wasn’t a very good art student. Making handmade jewellery was a lot harder than I imagined it to be. So from that point on I thought I would leave it to the experts and would buy all my handmade jewellery from people who knew what they were doing.

So when I reached my thirties I moved out of Manchester and bought a small cottage in the Lake District where I am truly happy and content except for one thing. In my idyllic rural location I no  longer have access to the wonderful array of handmade jewellery that I had in the urban landscape of a big city. To my utter relief a friend told me about an excellent website called www.phoenixfabrics.co.uk where they have an amazing array of handmade jewellery that really suits my aesthetic and my budget. As much as I used to love trawling the shops of Manchester for handmade jewellery I really love buying it online from my cosy little cottage.

Phoenixfabrics.co.uk stocks a wide range of jewellery to suit all tastes and pockets; visit our site for more on Handmade Jewellery and Renaissance Jewellery
